NOAA 19

As with NOAA 11, this satellite turned up while monitoring SGLS Channel 10 for signals from the STSS Demonstrator satellites.

NOAA 19 transmits at 2247.5 MHz but apparently only on ground command.

Observation

NOAA 19NOAA 19 was launched 2009 Feb 6 and is an active satellite. This is confirmed by the fact that the signal, unlike NOAA 11, contains data. It also seems to operating by ground command.

This is the first time that it has been reported openly on this frequency but, like NOAA 11, it has probably remained unreported due to the limited number of observers checking the SGLS Frequencies.

Transmissions

The plot shows a good Doppler curve with the signal exhibiting data sidebands. The sudden disappearance is due to it being switched off.

NOAA 19

The transmission is probably carrying data from the onboard TIPS instrument.
